National Governing Council

Provides consulting, training, and leadership development support to Regions and Chapters to strengthen their ability to carry out the Sigma Phi Rho mission in their communities.  The National Governing Council works to provide financial resources and counsel for program development and innovations, which results in leadership to the collective strength of chapters on key social issues affecting collegiate students, and communities dedicated to academic, spiritual and professional growth.

Sigma Phi Rho Fraternity, Inc. consists of the National Governing Council, Graduate Chapters and Undergraduate Chapters.  The privilege of belonging to the National Executive Committee of the National Governing Council is open to graduate brothers that are in good standing socially and financially.

I want to thank the brothers of Sigma Phi Rho Fraternity Inc. for allowing me the privileged to lead.  The responsibility of helping men mature and develop is my life's calling.   I know from firsthand experience that the advice passed along from man to young man can have profound positive effects. Therefore we must never back away from the hard work of mentoring and molding young people.

As a young man attending classes at Wagner College, S.I., NY, I was attracted to Sigma Phi Rho Fraternity Inc. because of the camaraderie and closeness the brothers showed.  As a trainee of Sigma Phi Rho Fraternity Inc., I memorized a poem, “Don’t Quit” written many years ago by an unknown author.  This poem inspired me to be confident, persistent and has encouraged me to persevere in my quest for success.  “Don’t Quit” the poem has served as a guideline that has helped me through my college career, on the football field as an athlete and today as a professional in business. When challenged, I often refer back to this poem.  It forces me to look at situations differently and to put things into perspective.  Quitting is easy, you just stop. It takes perseverance and diligence to find a better way to make things work to achieve your goals. “DON’T QUIT”

Why does Phil Georges, give selflessly of himself to Sigma Phi Rho, Fraternity Inc, 30 years after being inducted as a brother.  It is simple my early involvement with this brotherhood is the fabric of my life.  Being a brother partially shaped who I am going from a some what quite young man to a confident vocal leader.  Having stories like don't quit, & the code of man. The comradery of brotherhood I gained is priceless so I give my time and talent because I want other young men to experience what I have experienced.

Paying It Forward: I appreciate what I’ve learned as a brother of Sigma Phi Rho and I want to be able to extend that same helping hand to members of this organization that has been presented to me.

As a student I had to memorize a sermon, by Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr, entitled, ‘Drum Major Instinct’. In this particular sermon, Dr. King preached about that dominant impulse that we all have, to be out front, to lead, to be first. During the conclusion of his sermon, Dr. King preached about harnessing his dominant impulse, and simply wanting to be recognized for his service to the community and humanity, and not through any personal achievements.  Like Dr. King, I just want to leave a committed life behind.  I believe I can achieve this goal through Sigma Phi Rho Fraternity, Inc.
